KE-ZU’s thoughtful furniture solutions help to bring warmth and comfort to healthcare interiors, to improve patient experiences.

With growth at an exponential rate, the healthcare industry is rethinking how interiors look and feel. Indeed, across healthcare and wellness spaces, there is a growing need to create welcoming, warm and soothing environments. This desire to craft more comfortable environments has brought a shift in the furniture that is being designed and specified.

In particular, the new generation entering the aged care space is design conscious and responds more positively when contemporary style is present. As such, furniture and interiors play an integral role in helping patients feel comfortable and emotionally secure.

Of particular importance in the broader design of any healthcare or aged care establishment, is seating comfort, as this allows a more enjoyable experience for patients, so they can focus on what really matters. KE-ZU has responded to this need with a range of healthcare-specific designs that care about people, and how they interact with those environments. Moreover, KE-ZU’s attention to quality and design adheres to the most rigorous standards of strength and durability testing required for the contract market. Here we outline five of KE-ZU’s leading ranges, developed specifically for healthcare scenarios.

Boomerang from Sancal

Boomerang from Sancal

Scandinavian in style, the collection is based on the form of the Australian Aboriginal boomerang. Starting with a single premise: to design a product that was both ergonomic and aesthetic, with easy access for those with mobility problems, Quim Larrea and his team took the brief and started to puzzle over exactly what shape of arm could manage all of this and still be exceptionally strong. A single chair was born of this premise, to become the nexus of this world changing range. Inspired by the long, gently curving form of the boomerang, this pure, simple form has been meticulously machined to obtain exactly the right curves.

Extrapolating the form into a Nordic design vernacular, Larrea and his team introduced a wax-like finish reminiscent of classic Nordic design. Comprising a range of easy chairs, chaise lounges and ottomans, the range was selected for Designpreis Germany. The ash frame is available in various stained finishes, while upholstery is available in a range of in-house fabrics or the customers own fabric making this a truly versatile and bespoke solution.

GC Sidero Chair

GC Sidero Collection

Transforming the idea of a bariatric chair, the Sidero Collection posits that form should meet function to address the needs of comfort, safety, durability and performance. This fit-for-purpose design allows comfort for everyone, with an option for bariatric sizing that seamlessly integrates with other options. The collection of multi-purpose stacking chairs has a sculpted look, featuring wide curved arms. The round tubular steel frame limits abrasive contact and is often referred to as the ‘wall saver’. Importantly, the collection is compatible with options that allow the chair to meet rigorous infection control requirements.
