Tonella by Sancal is compact and comfortable seating range with expressive, elegant forms. Designed by Stockholm-based Note Design Studio, Tonella a reinterpretation of an original Sancal classic – a Marie Antoinette-style chair that the company made right at the beginning. Today, the Tonella has a cage-like, horseshoe-shaped frame inspired by Spanish wine barrels from Yecla, a wine-making region where Sancal was founded and continues to this day. The Tonella collection includes lounge chairs, stools and a two-seater sofa. Each has round, voluptuous forms and quilted upholstery to follow the barrel-style lines of the base. They come with the option of a fabric- or leather-upholstered interior, and a fabric-upholstered exterior. The contemporary Tonella is far more compact than its predecessor, classified as a dressing-table chair. Available in two sizes – mini and standard – the armchair is designed to fit into even the smallest corner, making it ideal for a lounge setting, hotel room, restaurant, retail dressing room and public area. The two-seater sofa also has a rounded, compact form, while the stool has an exaggerated metal-rod base as it rises to become the lower back support. Introduced in 2018, the stool is available in two heights – counter stool and bar stool.   Sancal is one of Spain’s leading manufacturers of contemporary furniture with a fresh and functional approach to style. Blending elegance with expressiveness and practicality with playfulness, the Sancal collection is as timeless as it is trend setting.
