On top: Aerial UTS Function Centre

Aerial UTS Function Centre has had a refresh with an updated design by Janja Wetherill with commercial builders INTREC and a range of contract furniture from KE-ZU.

Aerial UTS is a purpose-built function centre with flexible indoor spaces and a terrace overlooking Anzac Bridge and the Sydney CBD. Catering for dinners, conferences, meetings, seminars, cocktail parties, presentations and more for up to 450 guests, the project needed versatile and hard-wearing furniture for varied uses and settings.

Large cushioned benches and Diabolo side tables, supplied by KE-ZU, provide comfortable places to sit in informal areas and break-out zones. Diabolo by Chorus is a universally applicable range of tables with round tops, a pared-back aesthetic and the option to mix and match colours – the table top and upper section of the column versus the table base and lower section of the column. The Diabolo tables at Aerial UTS are white and black and complement the glowing pendant lights above.

Chairs and tables by Andreu World and EMU provide varied settings on the terrace. EMU’s Round outdoor chairs and bar stools are paired with Andreu World’s Dual dining tables and bar tables for high and low seating areas.

The Round chairs and bar stools have mesh seats shaped to comfort the forms of the body, and the steel-tube frame and galvanised metal seats are designed to withstand the weather. The chairs are stackable up to eight and the stools up to four, making them easy to store away when not in use, and are available in four colours. Aerial UTS has chairs and stools in Indian brown, providing neutral-coloured and versatile seating around the Dual dining and bar tables. The sleek and lightweight tables have earth-brown-coloured structural columns and base with a light-coloured square top.

The outdoor terrace also features lounge seating with Andreu World’s Siesta outdoor sofa and Sand outdoor coffee table. The modular Siesta sofa has an upholstered seat and backrest and steel sled base in earth brown to complement the outdoor dining and bar settings. The Siesta sofa allows for flexible compositions, and at Aerial UTS are configured around the Sand coffee table, a collection with steel frames and ceramic tops. The Sand is available as a square or rectangular table with a white or earth-brown frame and ceramic top in earth brown, sand grey or grey stone. Like Siesta, the frame has been applied with an EPL-5 treatment to withstand diverse weather conditions.
