Japanese brand axona AICHI designs and manufactures high-end contract furniture that’s highly durable, multifunctional and ultra eco-friendly to the planet. And you need look no further than AICHI’s Tipo chair for proof. An exceptional example of AICHI’s elegant eco-friendly design, the Tipo chair won a Red Dot Design Award in 2011 and Green Good Design Award in 2014, and its designer Taku Kamazawa was awarded the AIT Innovation Award at Orgatec 2012.Tipo is GECA certified, which means it has been rigorously assessed and the impact over its life cycle deemed safe for both the environment and peoples’ health. It is manufactured from 100-per cent recycled and recyclable materials, including waste containers, PET bottles and car parts – defective automobile engine fans to be more specific – and packaged in recycled/recyclable boxes that hold 35 chairs. At the end of Tipo’s life, all components can be easily disassembled into each material type. Tipo is a functional, comfortable and convenient choice for meeting, conference and training rooms. The seat and back is a high-density mesh (or a combination of mesh and polypropylene) and the lightweight chair weighs only 3.5 kilograms. The option of a handle on the top of the back makes it easy to carry and move, as do side handles that prevent contact and damage when stacking. Chairs can be stacked 40 high (and only take up an efficient two metres in space) and a linking device within the sled base makes it ideal for waiting room seating. Chairs also have the option of writing table or wing arms for conference or training purpose. The chair is available with a sled base, four legs or castors; in powder coated or chrome frame; and in red, white, black or light grey.
