For the renewal of the iconic Kokuritsu Yoyogi National Stadium by Tange Associates, 4,400 Gene chairs by Axona Aichi were selected to support the diverse demands of one of Japan’s most significant sporting and cultural venues.
Designed for high-performance environments, the Gene chair combines durability, flexibility and user comfort with a refined, understated aesthetic. Each chair features a durable polypropylene back with integrated seat-number pockets, ensuring efficient wayfinding and organisation across large-scale events.
The chairs are upholstered in Nylex faux leather, providing a premium tactile finish while maintaining the resilience required for intensive public use. Lightweight construction supports efficient event changeovers, while the ergonomic form ensures comfort for spectators, guests and users across extended periods.
Beyond the main auditorium spaces, Gene chairs and CTZ tables were also installed throughout meeting rooms, creating a consistent furniture language across the facility.
