Parachilna
Named after a one-horse desert town 500kms from Adelaide, Parachilna was launched at Milan Design Week in 2014 with an enviable collection of lamps, by an equally enviable trio of designers: Jordi Veciana, Stephen Burks and superstar Jaime Hayon. The response from the design community was instant; Parachilna was a studio to watch out for.
For the first collection, each designer brought their unique signature to the forms they designed:
Hayon’s curvaceous range utilises Venetian ceramics, with glass and brass. Aballs features a pendant and walls lamps, a table lamp and a grand chandelier. While his glossy ceramic Chinoz table lamp is inspired by Chinese ginger pots.
Veciana created the Alistair range for Parachilna using a glass cylinder wrapped around a fine metal frame in brass or graphite electroplated steel.
And Burke used three geometric forms: the sphere, saucer and cigar to create the Anwar collection in woven wire and finished in black, copper, or golden electroplating.
With this pioneering collection, Parachilna is already well on the way to becoming one of the great European lighting studios.
