As her first creation for Sancal, Ionna Vautrin has designed a colourful trio of two tables and a stool inspired by chess pieces. Mustard, olive, peach, sky-blue and shadow grey are the five colours that have been selected for the bases. She uses a contrast of high gloss for the lacquers with a matte, wax finish for the natural wood. The seat of the stool is in natural leather, chosen to match the colour of the base. The structures of the seating areas are in maple wood. The upholstery cannot be removed.

The success of the Pion stools and tables brought us back to Ionna to include a range of dining tables. Just as before, chess pieces have continued to be the inspiration for the new designs. Ionna has also incorporated another colour to add to the mustard, olive, peach and sky blue colours already in production: shadow grey. She uses a contrast of high gloss for the lacquers with a matte, wax finish for the natural wood. Unlike the coffee tables, the lacquer on the dining tables runs across the entire base, right the way up to the edge of the table top.

After the success of the Pion family of tables, we have expanded the number of finishes that are available. As with its predecessors, the inspiration comes from chess pieces. We refer to the new version as Pion Petra, after the ancient city carved from a rock face, as lonna has been influenced by natural stone. The base and pillar is lacquered MDF for both the side and dining tables. Quartzite tabletops are combined with quartz coloured bases and the emperador gold marble has been contrasted against a tobacco lacquer.
