  • About the Product

Ivy is the main player of a new concept of outdoor living: an outdoor lounge entirely made of steel. The seats are completed by seat and seat-back cushions covered in dark green camouflage cloth with structured warp working in stretch polyester. The Ivy collection is completed by two coffee-tables, one square, the other rectangular and by a pouffe/coffee-table. The square table has legs in ironed sheet metal with metallic rod frame and solid sheet metal top, customisable with magnetic decor with plant design. The rectangular table with legs in ironed sheet metal with rod frame, gives the customer the chance to customise it with 32 handmade and hand-painted Deruta tiles in enamelled terracotta, available in two subjects: gold fish on turquoise background and black bug on white background. The pouffe is one of the most characteristic and innovative elements of the collection: realised in ironed sheet metal and steel rod, it has a solid sheet metal top to which is fastened a photovoltaic device fitted with 5 LEDs which collects and stores solar energy during the day and release it at night like a firefly turning into a practical footlight. In addition to being a handy and lightweight seat, in the evening the Ivy pouffe turns into a source of light thanks to solar energy, for a period ranging from 4 to 6 hours (to be estimated on the basis of the geographical latitude and the period of the year). Next to the ceiling light there is a push-button enabling automatic switching on as soon as it gets dark. If the switch is left off, on the other hand, it is possible to decide whether to leave the light on or off.
  • The Brand

EMU - Elettro Meccanica Umbra - was started in Italy in 1951 to produce military equipment; specifically radios. The founders of EMU, brothers Aldo and Angelo Biscarini, and Dante Menconi, stumbled on a process to plasticise the metal components of the radios to protect them from the weather.
