About the ProductEveryone has had the experience of living without a sofa for some period of time. This feeling inspired our Norwegian designers Anderssen & Voll to come up with a new modular sofa program for Artifort: Big Island. To most of us this experience meant our homes were lacking the proper possibilities for retreating. Big Island is just the opposite: it is a place to sit down, to settle your thoughts and to relax in your own home. It gives the hideaway feeling you get on a real island. It's the ultimate hub of your home.
The BrandMore about this Brand
Good design (ars) and durability (fortis) come together in Artifort, a manufacturer of some of the world’s most epochal furniture. Upholsterer Jules Wagermans founded the company in Maastricht in 1890. Following World War II, Artifort shed its traditional roots to embrace the modern movement under the guidance of interior/furniture designer Kho Liang le. Collaborations with the likes of Theo Ruth (Congo chair), and Gerrit Rietveld, cemented Artifort’s reputation with architects and design lovers as a manufacturer at the cutting edge of design.
