Designers are invited to conceive an ambient lamp for the darkness of tomorrow.
KE-ZU in conjunction with Kenneth Cobonpue and Hive is sponsoring the first Hive lighting design competition.
The first Hive Design Competition will explore new dimensions in lighting through the use of existing Kenneth Cobonpue and Hive manufacturing materials and energy efficient light sources.
This concept light will be designed for use in any indoor environment whilst embracing the key energy and ecological values of the 21st century.
Whilst utilising the trademark Hive and Kenneth Cobonpue manufacturing materials and manufacturing resources, the designs must integrate the five criteria specific to this design competition: environmental friendliness, illumination, ease of manufacture, economic efficiency and cost effective delivery [freight].
Samples of current product collection and manufacturing materials are available for study at the KE-ZU showroom or distributors of Kenneth Cobonpue and Hive products throughout Australia.
This inaugural design competition kicks off 1 July 2008 and closes 31 October 2008. Entries are open to students and professionals resident in Australia.
Designs are to be submitted electronically or on paper, in CAD form, sketches, renders or computer rendering.
Prize
The winner will receive a return trip from any Australian capital city to the Hive factory in Cebu, Philippines together with 5 nights accommodation and will have the opportunity to see his or her design concept manufactured.
To underline the potential international appeal, the model of the winning design concept will be built by workers at the Hive factory. This is an acquisitive competition and should the design concept be put into production and offered as part of the hive catalogue collection, hive will credit the designer in promotion of the product internationally.
